Save a bundle while dining out

I love dining out. The only thing I don’t love about it is the fact that it can get pricey. I just found out about a place where you can get dining gift certificates for a fraction of the face value. (Like a $25 certificate for $10, or a $10 certificate for $3.) Search by zip code, and view the area restaurants for which you can purchase certificates.

Football apparel

I just wrote about wanting a new tv, for the proper viewing of Desperate Housewives.
Since it’s football season (and since hubby is such a great guy), I think I’ll pick up some Dallas Cowboy stuff for him. I found these two coupons, which will help:

Get 20% off NFL Apparel

15% Off Jerseys Offer Ends 10.31

It’s not just Dallas Cowboy stuff. Apparel & accessories for all teams are available. But I’m not sure why anyone would want those. ;)

Football season, Desperate Housewives, and a frozen television

Football season is here. And while it means little to my husband, the premiere of Desperate Housewives is almost here. I usually watch tv in the bedroom while he watches football in the living room, but I’m getting tired of our temperamental tv. It’s rather old, the sound has gotten blarey, and it has this anNOYing habit of freezing (enter a channel, & the tv just freezes; I can see visual, but get no audio, and I can’t change the channel. I have to unplug it to unfreeze it.) Good thing Circuit City is running a special: up to $600 off select HDTVs. I don’t need anything too big. Just something that won’t freeze up would be great. And with free shipping on orders over $24, I don’t have to waste gas going to buy one. (Offer ends Saturday, September 29th.)

Airborne: my current best friend

I’m sick. I know exactly how it happened, too. I went to the store, and pushed a cart around. When we got home, I ate a couple of crackers before washing my hands, and thought, “Oooh… BAD move.” And it was. LUCKILY, I had some Airborne here at home. LOVE Airborne. I started using it after I heard about it on Oprah. It knocks our colds out within a couple of days. I like to keep several boxes on hand during the fall and winter. I just found out that I can get it cheaper at drugstore.com than anywhere here in town, AND, since they an offer of free shipping on any order over $25, AND there’s a coupon stating: New Customers: Receive $5 off $30 or $10 off $50 on your first non-prescription order I can now order several boxes (and a couple of extra goodies), for less than I’d spend at the store. And I won’t have to waste my gas going to get it. Wow. You’ll have to excuse me. I think I might just have to do my “what a bargain” dance….

Hooray for Obo-Pay!

A few weeks ago, I wrote about a new site that pays new registrants $5 just for registering. I was excited about this (and the nice chunk of cash that I made by referring my friends). And then I found out about Obo-Pay.

Right now, Obo-Pay (who has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and USA Today, is partnered with Citi) is giving new members $10 for signing up for their service (it’s free to join). PLUS they will give you $5 for each friend or relative that you refer.

How it works: you use your cell phone to send or receive money. It’s like PayPal, but with cell phones instead of computers. (And when PayPal started business years ago, they also enticed new members with $5 free.) Receiving and withdrawing money with Obo is free. Sending money (whether is’s $5 or $500) is just 10 cents.

I think this is an excellent service for anyone… especially those work at home moms (like Avon ladies, etc.) who won’t have to drive across town to collect money any more. Just have your customers pay you via Obo (and get a free $5 when they register!).

The joy of cooking (during the cold weather months)

I love cold weather. It should be here in a few weeks. We don’t get much of it down here in South Texas, so I enjoy it when it’s here. My friend Rachel in Ft. Collins (happy birthday, Rachel!)  would probably laugh if she experienced one of our mild winters, but to a south Texan, 40 degrees is pretty cold. The cool weather always puts me in the mood to cook warm, hearty meals. This year I’m going to get a FoodSaver because right now they’re offering 10% off everything) (Use coupon code LINKAFF1.) I saw one on Oprah a few years ago, and I’ve read you can save a lot of money because it cuts down on food spoilage.

I also need a new Crock-Pot (mine is cracked). If you click here, you can get 15% off all Crockpots and accessories. When I get my new Crock-Pot, I’m going to try making chicken & dumplings for the first time ever. If you have a great recipe for it, let me know.

Quick, easy, stress-free dinners

The school year is back in swing. With the school year comes other busy after school activities, homework, games, meetings, etc. Every single year, I fall into the same routine: I either fix dinners of cold sandwiches and chips, or we pick up fast food. Neither option is very healthy, and I usually go to bed feeling guilty for feeding my family junk. My new friend Christine offers a service that takes all of the stress out of meals. Now I plan ahead, and am prepared for hot, healthy meals every day. She emails dinner menus and grocery shopping lists to members every Thursday. All meals are quick and easy to prepare, and none have expensive, exotic ingredients. Whether you’ve got a new baby or kids in school, you’ll find this service to be a real life-saver. For just $4.58-$4.99 per MONTH (less than the price of ONE fast food combo meal), you could have your hectic dinner hours made simple and stress-free.

Click here to visit Christine’s site and regsiter for her service (and a simplified life for yourself).
