RichDad: How to eliminate your debt (& maybe become a millionaire in the process)

I just watched “The Millionaire Inside” on CNBC. One guy really impressed me, so I got online to read about him. This guy, Robert Kiyosaki, had two dads. One was a high-earning, educated professional. The other was uneducated. The twist, though… the uneducated dad was the rich man. The educated dad with a high income didn’t know how to manage his income, and was always broke as a result.

Kiyosaki learned from both dads (learning what to do as well as what NOT to do), and became a millionaire in the process. He has a teaching system (called “You Can Choose to Be Rich“) that teaches people how to get out of debt and become financially free. Considering his books have been on the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Business Week and USA Today best seller lists, the guy must know what he’s talking about. I am definitely going to talk to the hubby about ordering one of these sets. The sets have 12 cds, a work book and a “Debt Eliminator” Calculator.

EVERYthing Kiyosaki said tonight on CNBC, and everything I have read after seeing the show just makes so much sense. (If you watched the show, or if you order the set, drop me a line… maybe we can compare notes.)

Google Pack: saving the world from spyware one machine at a time

My husband (as I’ve stated before) is a geek. (That’s not an insult in our house… it’s just a fact.) He recently installed Firefox on all of our computers, because of its superior browsing and security benefits. Google has a bundle of software (called the Google Pack) that will make your online experience more enjoyable and (more importantly) safer. The Google Pack includes Norton Safety Scan and Spyware Doctor, to keep your computer safe from viruses and spyware. My favorite apps in the bundle are Picasa, Google Earth, and Google Photos Screensaver… I’ve been playing with them for nearly a week now. You can’t beat the price (FREE). Click the link below to give them a try. Drop me a line and let me know what you think.

Sansa-sational savings on a 1GB MP3 player

The guys at Geeks.com have an amazing deal on a SanDisk Sansa C140 1GB flash-based MP3/WMA player. It’s just $29.99. Extra features include an FM tuner with 20 presets, FM on-the-fly recording (which, I’ll admit.. I don’t know what that is, but for this price I don’t even care!). Also has voice recording and color screen up to 64,000 colors to display cover art and thumbnail pictures.

The price is good until August 31. I’m thinking of snagging a few for Christmas presents….

Backpacks galore

August is around the corner. And with August comes preparing to head back to school. We’re getting a head start on the savings. Several merchants have contacted me with back to school savings on school supplies, backpacks, clothing, and computer equipment. The back pack is one of the most important back to school essentials. At least it is for my kiddos. My son has a particular type in mind every year, and doesn’t stop until he finds it (remind you of my stand on shower curtains?). This year, I’m thrilled to have found eBags and Bagsbuy. Both sites offer products from reputable manufacturers, in styles ranging from rugged to Euro chic. My personal favorite is the Timbuk2, a sturdy messenger bag that originated in NYC (eBags is currently offering 10% off of Timbuk2 bags to my readers).Be sure to check out my Back to School Savings page. I’ll be updating it at least once a day, with savings on everything you need for heading back to school.

Personalize your shower

I have quirky tastes, so it’s really hard for me to find things for my home.  (I tell my husband, “I’m not picky, I just know what I like.”)

One of the things I’ve always had a hard time picking out is shower curtains.   I’ve even gone so far as to use just a plain clear vinyl one, rather than use something that doesn’t fit the personality of our home.   Then I found shower-curtains.com.   They have TONS of shower curtains in both fabric and vinyl, along with matching rings & bathroom accessories.  Curtains to fit any decor, from the elegant to the whimsical.    I even found several patterns that I like for our bathrooms at home (and if you knew me, you’d know that that’s a miracle).  Best part is, they’re all at excellent prices (on par with Target, but much nicer than anything I’ve seen there).

Looking for deeper discount?  Shower-curtains.com furnished me with discount codes for several of their items.  Click here to be taken to my coupons page, to see the discounts (and links) that shower-curtains.com provided me.

Stirred, not shaken

I’ve never been a drinker. It’s just never been my thing. But, despite my non-drinker lifestyle, I have always (ALWAYS) enjoyed drinking out of beautiful glassware. I’ve had orange juice in wine glasses, iced tea in brandy snifters, and lemonade in champagne flutes. My favorite glass, though, has always been the martini glass. It has such an air of sophistication, and for the few moments that I’m sipping my iced tea (or what have you) from my martini glass, I am Holly Golightly living the Manhattan life.

I just came across the Soiree Collection from Swank Martini. A modern twist on the martini glass, the 6 piece set (including glass stirrer) is just $49 (on sale).

Holly Golightly would go mad for them. If… you know… she wasn’t a fictional character….

P.S. Swank uses THE best protective packing in the industry.

Head off to dreamland in style

Everyone loves pajamas (except maybe nudists…). Curling up with a good book just isn’t the same in jeans or slacks. I love lazy weekends when the entire family lounges around in their pjs. I’ve found a couple of companies that carry pjs for the entire family, and both have many items on clearance now. Sleepyheads.com carries an extensive line of pajamas, robes, and loungewear. Check out their Warehouse Blowout Sale, and save an additional 15% by entering “WAREHOUSESALE” in the coupon code box at check out. My personal favorites: the Nick & Nora Midnight Snacker flannel pjs.

CrazyForBargains.com also caters to pajama lovers. Their clearance section offers deep discounts on pjs and boxers for the whole family, including this sweet pair of Jimi Hendrix men’s boxers, for just $7.99.
