This weekend I had the pleasure of meeting a local mom who was giving out samples of a new salsa that she and her husband created. Empire Salsa is delicious and has a unique blend of sweet and heat. The initial taste is sweet and tomato-y, followed by a slight sensation of heat. (And I have to tell you… in south Texas, where most salsa makers seem to be in a competition as to who can blister the consumers’ tongues with increasingly ridiculous amounts of heat, Empire Salsa is refreshingly different: sweet heat without the pain.) I can buy it locally, but they have a website that makes it possible for anyone in the U.S. to taste this South Texas salsa. Their online shop is easy to navigate, and the shipping rates are reasonable. The multi-packs are a good idea for gift giving (give several jars to one person, or single jars to several people). My advice, though: keep at least one jar for yourself. (And try it mixed with cream cheese. It’s to die for.)

Capture the moments

With the holidays, comes lots of time spent with family and friends. You’ll want to capture some of those moments in photo form.
